    • Introduction: Please join us as we honor Clark W. "Bill" Henry Jr., US Navy

    Clark W. “Bill” Henry Jr.
    1943–2019

Bill was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and later made his home in Albany, New York. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve at the age of seventeen and began active service in the United States Navy in October 1961.

During the Cold War, Bill served with Anti-Submarine Squadrons 20 and 31 aboard the USS Wasp (CVS-18). His service included the ship’s deployment toward Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He completed his military service and received an honorable discharge in 1966.

After returning home, Bill began a nearly 40-year career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. Following his retirement, he continued serving his community as a crossing guard for the City of Albany.

Bill was known for his commitment to his community and his watchful eye over his Albany neighborhood. Many affectionately regarded him as the "Mayor of Ramsey Place."

He was an active member of Fort Orange American Legion Post 30 for more than 20 years and a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers for more than 50 years.

Bill was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Alice, and a loving father, grandfather, and brother.

His love of athletics remained with him throughout his life. He participated in recreational leagues across the area and was an avid supporter of New York sports teams.
